How to use the gravel calculator

Using Length, Width and Depth

  1. Enter the Length and Width (In FEET) of your Driveway or Project
  2. Enter the Depth (In INCHES)

The gravel calculator uses default values for gravel/stone which will work for a wide range of materials including Top Soil. It follows the rules of which weights more a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks.

I typical driveway topping for Limestone is 1.5″ – 2″ deep.  Use the 1/4″ to 2″ for estimation.

The results in Tons can vary if the material is wet, density and type.   Sometimes it better to error on the high side so you have enough material.

Don’t forget, this is ONLY estimated material cost, you have to also factor in hauling the material to the job site plus any taxes from your area.  These costs vary from $65 per load and up.  If charged hourly it can be from $65 to $150 per hour depending upon the size of the dump trailer or truck.
